Turn on/off remote desktop

Is there a way to turn on/off (allow users to connect to this pc) remote desktop connection through scripts or terminal services? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I meant to say remotely. I do work from home and would like to be able to turn this on/off to prevent others from accessing the computer remotely.
