Is there a way to have windows or another program turn on the computer and run Things like Disk Defrag, Virus Scan, Disk Cleanup, and spybot type programs? and then if possible turn off the computer?
The ACPI Power Management can only do so much.
See if you have "Wake Up" events listed in your BIOS.
This is a hard thing to configure with modern motherboards. And it depends completely on how you turn it off and what happens when it is turned off.
Are your PS/2 devices still on?
Is the link light on your ethernet adapter still on?
Are you using a surge protector/UPS device to turn off/on your computer an all devices?
The best answer is: maybe
You can improve this answer by closely examining what your BIOS supports.
But honestly my best answer is: Turn off the monitor, and leave the computer on 24/7.
On average this is equivalent to having a 60 Watt bulp lit 24/7.
