Hi guys.. wondering if this is possible.

In XP Pro, you can create a defaut security policy in secpol.msc so that you're system cannot ping out. Such as you'd get "Destination Host Unreachable" if you were to try and ping anything.

XP Home edition does not have this feature. Anyone any ideas without installing a 3rd party firewall?

Reason I want to do this, is because of an old game. You have to turn it off otherwise it drops you in the lobby when you type - weird, I know.

Firewall settings > Add program > c:\windows\system32\ping.exe > block it.

Hope this Helps.

You know what Neil? I actually thought "Wow!", what a most simple solution to a very annoying problem, I never thought of trying that..

I can't even get it to block MSN signing in, nevermind ping.exe.

Is my Windows Firewall broke? - Yes the service is started.

There's a button that says "Don't allow exceptions", checked.

How odd...

Are the Services that Windows Firewall lists as Dependencies having problems?

Have you checked your firewall security via the "Shields Up" test at ?

You still have access permissions to "ping" about with.
