I have got an ip office version 3. I am attaching this to a PA system. I need to turn off the busy tone when the handset is put down. It is attached to a standard analogue port. Can anyone help?

Are you using some kind of interface to connect the ext to the pa?
If so there should be a little vox sensitivity dial on the pcb, this sets the length of time(of silence after finishing the announcement)before the unit disconnects.
Alternatively get the person making the announcement to wait about 2/3 seconds before replacing the handset, this usually stops the busy tone being broadcast.

are u using a Valcom PA system via trnk port or extension port , is your extension port configured as a paging port if it is then there is no dial tone given.

It is programmed up as an analogue station, not as a trunk station. When you say a paging station is that in the "extension" tab. If so i have done this and it did not work. The port needs to have ringing voltage so that the pa system knows to pick up.

If setting the ext as a paging station try setting it as an off hook station instead (this suppresses all tones)

It sounds like you are using a "Station Level Paging Adapter". You may need to enable the station as an IVR port - which essentially sends a "drop pluse" or positive disconnect signal to the paging adapter.
