Hi all,

Got the following situation : We have an AIX machine, AIX5.2ML6,with TSM installed, version 5.1.6.Our taperobot ( magstar ,type 3570 , 4 drives, direct attached trough SCSI ).We have installed an oracle plugin tdpo for our online backups of our databases. Now we have the following problem :
Our tapes are getting worn off, and are giving errors from time to time, as well as our drives.Sometimes we get hardware errors during online backup, the drive is taken offline, and the session is cancelled. So our online backup fails. Is there any kind of option we can set in de options files , so that the session doesn't get cancelled ,but starts over when a new drive becomes available? Or is that to much to whish for ?

Thx in advance,

Kind regards,

Bad news, there is no such parameter that exist.

Maybe have the tdp sessions go to diskpools then migrate them to tape... If the drive goes offline at least you can restart the migration process and the backup is still successful.

tnx guys for the info! Diskpools are probably scheduled for next year, there are plans for a new backup setup, so I think we'll get a VTL or so.
