I have been tasked with writing a script that will back up data, through the network, to the TSM server. Typically we “flash” the drives and mount them on the TSM server so they appear native to the TSM server. However, in this instance, I will be backing up data from the client server without mounting the drive on the TSM server. This is the equivalent of accessing the web client on the client server and the selecting the items I wish to back up. However, I have to automate this process. That is, I have to find the directories in AIX that I wish to back up and then redirect the output into a TSM backup command. I was just wondering if it’s possible to do such redirection or if there’s an easier way to get this done.

Thanks,
Shane

Put a command line backup script on the client node, then call this script from an admin schedule from the TSM server. Would that work?
