Hi All,

This is bound to get the silly question of the day award:
:)
When users are connected to the Terminal Server, and are inactive, their session automatically locks the desktop (of their session - not to be confused with their local machine).
How is this timeframe defined? Where can I change it?

I have found where I can set the system to disconnect or log off idle sessions - but this is specifically to do with the locking of the session's desktop...

Anyone?

Thanks in advance.
Troy

This could be interesting. Is the TS a part of the domain? The reason I ask is if it is, then do you have a domain lockout time? If so, you may need to think about using the loopback setting of the local machines GP and then configure any of the "needed" settings that way.

Thanks for the reply - yes, it is part of the domain, however no lockout time is applied.
When I am talking about the desktop being locked - it is the same as pressing ctrl/alt/del on a WinNT/2K/Xp machine....doesn't actually lock the domain account etc...just the session for security.....

Cheers
Troy

I knew what you meant. Have you looked at the local policy of the machine? Could be set for a password protected screen-saver. If the domain doesn't have one, then it has to be on the local machine.

Perhaps:?

On the TS: Administrative Tools/local security policy/Local Profiles/Security Options/Microsoft networkserver:Amount of idle time required before suspending session. Default is 15 minutes.

Does that do it for you?

Brilliant! Thanks guys - was that "local sucrity policy"....forgot about that one and was focusing on the "local computer policy" that I had built myself...

Thanks again for your help!!

Outstanding. Glad to have been a help!
