I am having a heck of a time here. I am trying to use the Linked server within SQL 2000 to connect to a AS400.

OK, I installed the latest version of client access, in the ODBC admin I setup a system DSN and it worked fine.

When I try and create a new linked server and then choose the type of connection to use, I donot see the clinet access ODBC driver listed. I see OLEDB for AS400, and all the other standard driver listed.

I tryed using I tryed using the micorosft OLEDB provider for ODBC. and that would'nt work. I am also confused about what to enter into the fields..

e.g. the Microsoft OLEDB provider for ODBC has the following sections.

Product Name
Data Source
Provider String
Location
Catalog

The only one I am for sure about is the data source.
What the heck do I put into the other fields.

Can someone help me out there.

Thanks in Advance

You can get all the info from reading from the connection details that you stated worked "OK, I installed the latest version of client access, in the ODBC admin I setup a system DSN and it worked fine." it should have all the info you need. AL Almeida
