Hello:

I am new in HP UX management, we have a server running an application in C++ with Interbase Database. I usually run the application and get an options menu, but now, when I choose the exit option to return to prompt console, a message error about failed process to stop database appears. Do you know a way to force the application to close or any hot-key or command to get HP-UX prompt console. I need to restart the server, but I am afraid to make a cold restart before run a shutdown or reboot command.

Thanks,

Gonzalo

First, using the key on the unit, switch to service. At your console, press ctrl-b. At the prompt, enter the command "RS". This will restart the system.

How do you normally shut down the database? Through the menu or at the command line? Does this menu come up when you log in at the console as root? (I hope not!)
