The machine shop I work at has a wire EDM we use for tool making. It is controlled by an NEC Model PC-9801UV personal computer. It has two NEC FD1137D floppy drives. Floppy one runs the system disk, and floppy two runs the user disk. Floppy two has failed. These are unique drives in that the data cable connector has the 1 pin reversed from a normal floppy, and there is no twist in the cable between floppy one and floppy two. I have had no luck locating replacements, and would welcome any helpful ideas.

Not sure what the pin1 reversal is about but from the description you have drives with drive select jumpers. These were used before the IBM systems started using all drive 1 selections and the cut & twist was used to select a drive 1 jumpered drive as drive 0.

You may end up having to change both drives and installing a cut & twist cable. It is also possible that you'll need one like some Compaqs that use two cut & twists.

Floppies are bad about dust so you really want to keep them protected. It would be nice if you could use something like an old IBM Hard Drive Card like the IBM Tandy 1000A was using. They were only about 20 Meg but that was a lot of storage for the time.
