Greetings!
I was wondering if there's anything similar to wfrevive , or another wrapper/helper file(s) that would get progman.exe "Microsoft Program Manager" to run under vista?
I already tried the wfrevive patcher on progman.exe and I even modified progman.exe manually with a hex editor myself (xvi32), and a different message of another missing api appears. Here's what it says:
NT4 and W2K progman.exe:
The procedure entry point ExtractAssociatedIconW could not be located in the dynamic link library shellwr.dll.
XP SP1 progman.exe:
The procedure entry point FindExecutableW could not be located in the dynamic link library shellwr.dll.
Perhaps those other missing functions/api's don't exist in those wrapper files? Compatibility mode obviously doesn't work either.
So I was hoping that maybe that there was a progman clone floating around somewhere other than the wine progman.exe which doesn't work correctly, or a way to get the real progman to run again. I've tried the progman.exe from Windows NT4, Windows 2000, and Windows XP SP1, all without any luck from either of the three executables. I'm assuming the progman.exe from Windows NT 3.51 is not going to make any difference either.
I am currently running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition x64 with SP1, and I also tried to get progman.exe to run under the x86 version as well with no success.
I understand that this is a shell wrapper/helper and was mainly intended for winfile, but I would love to be able to run progman.exe again and I would be extremely happy if progman.exe would be able to run under vista, even though progman.exe now needs the helper/wrapper files to run.
Thank you so much for your help.
