Trying to downlad IE but i get an error URLMON.DLL

Using Windows ME, IE 5.5
I am trying to download IE 6 but i am constantly getting this error:
Iexplorer has caused an error in URLMON.DLL. Iexplorer will now close.
Please advise.

I have done some reading on this. It can be software, runtime problems or hardware. I know that is not lots of help. Have you updated your ActiveX and all of the lastest updates for Windows. I am sure you have but never hurts to ask. One of the softwares was HP.
Most of the references are to Windows 98. It might be worth checking the stuff in the Windows 98 to see if you have any of it on your system. Have you tried repaiiring you IE?
IE 6 is not really for Windows ME. Your would better off with IE 5.5 with SP2

I think it is a combination of many things...
I stopped trying to figure out the problem once I could not resolve it in few hours.
All whta I did is reformat my HD, then reinstall Window ME, and all the apps.
I haven't gone to update my window me from microsoft update.
