Trusting windows 2000 to NT4 domains over a WAN

Hello, I have a remote site that I've had a domain trust with for a while until they recently switched from NT 4 to win2k server. I currently have an NT4 domain. Now I can't get the domains to trust each other. I can ping the win2k dc ip addresss but cant acces anything. I have the ip-helper cmd on both cisco routers. I have also added all pertinant info into the lmhost files on both sides we can ping each other by name or ip. i can even ping there domain.local dns name. Am I missing something in regards to windows 2000?
