I have an assited transfer set up within our auto attendant to transfer to an external number. This works well in testing when I activate the auto attendant from an internal extension but will not transfer when the auto attendant is reached by an an inbound call.

Do I have enable Allow Forwarding on each trunk line in order for this to work? Will this create security issues?

If its analog to analog trunks then yes, the Allow Forwarding also affect trunk to trunk transfers.

The reason its there for analog trunks is less to do with security and more to do with some analog trunks not disconnecting correctly after calls. When using those for trunk to trunk transfers you end up with both trunks locked up and no one internally really aware of that until they notice a reduction in incoming calls.
