Can someone enlighten me on trunk routing?
I use a G3siV6 with 3 carriers. 4E1s are connected to one telco and one extra E1 to another Telco. I would like to use the last(5th) E1 for outgoing calls only as this Telco is far cheaper but 30 channels may not be enough so I need more flexibility. If needed I would like to route outbound calls over any spare trunks on the other 4 E1s just in case the E1 is fully occupied. Now here comes the tricky bit. When I route calls over a route pattern they will need to refer to particular route pattern and trunk group. In that trunk group I would have trunk members for the 5th E1 with no prefix on the dial string for outgoing calls as these calls would be on-net to the telco. However if I wanted to add members from another DS1(E1) I would need to have a prefix in order to route them properly as these calls would be routed have to be routed to the same carrier but off-net. Thanks

You would be building 1 route pattern which contains the 2 trunk groups. The single e1 group would be the 1st preference and the quad e1 group would be the second preference. The route pattern form allows you to specify the prefix (or lack of prefix) per trunk group/preference. There should be no issues with what you're wanting to attempt.
