trunk hunt order vs. keeping the call within a media gateway

We have a remote location with 4 G700’s off our main S8700, running CM 2.2

Each of the G700 has a DS1 board and an analogue board for fax machines. All fax calls via the G700 sent out the local DS1 boards using one trunk group. Trunk hunt is set to cyclical.

I was under the impression that the switch will always pick a trunk (regardless of the hunt order) in the local Media Gateway so it doesn’t have to send the call between 2 MG’s to access a trunk. In our setup, however, fax calls constantly go between 2 Media Gateways although the MG with the analogue board initiating the call has free trunks available.

Is that something that can be set one way or the other? We have a lot of dropped faxes and we suspect they don’t work well when sent between the 2 Media Gateways

Regards

fsi,

it doesn't pick local trunk nor hunt group port. you should split the configuration and have four trunk groups landing fax calls on the local hunt groups. no other way in cm2, i'm afraid.
