hi can someone tell me what ascend, descend and cyclical means in the trunk group setup page. thank you.

I always understood that one meant starting from the bottom last member, and going up the next one starting from the top down, and the last the calls will go equally to all members in circle manner.

David

P.S. A message to all,if you want to get the best response to a question, please read FAQ222-2244 first. Also give the type and version of your voice mail & pbx system & preview your post to make sure it is complete & understandable. Beware that if u don't answer a question posted to assist u , u will most likely hinder efforts to so

That's correct, asend starts from channel 1, descend starts from the "highest" channel and cyclical starts with one trunk and moves around in a "circular" pattern so basically it would start with channel 1 and move up through your last channel, to start over at 1 again.

so cyclical is the same as descend? since descend goes from top to bottom then back to top? i thought that cyclical was maybe it takes trunk 1 from pri 1, then it takes trunk 1 from pri 2 - goes through al lyour avaialbe pri then goes to trunk 2 of pri 1, etc, etc?

No cyclical just chooses a trunk at random. Does not go from bottom to top or top to bottom. It can go from on member to another with no logical path.

With asend, here's what happens.
1 phone call = it takes channel 1 for the call.
2nd phone call = it takes channel 1 for the call.
Line 1 opens up
3rd phone call = it takes line 1 since it's the "lowest open".

The opposite is true for Descending. ie it works down from the highest.

Cyclical goes through all of the channels starting with 1 to the end. In the above example when call 3 comes in, it would hit the 3rd channel instead of going back to the lowest open.
