I've received a couple of Event 5783 in my logs and a link on the MS site suggests possible DNS problems, we have been having a few issues with internet name resolution but untill now we thought it was our ISP's DNS. I'm still thinking that the two problems are unrelated as i havent seen this 5783 error before.

I would like to know what tests i can perfore to check that my DNS is in good working order can anyone point me in the right direction?

We have a Windows 2003 SP1 domain with AD intergrated DNS.

Thanks.

If you haven't tried this already use the nslookup tool to test internal and external entries of your DNS resolver.

Try something like this:

go into cmd and type: nslookup and your internal IP address
then type your host address if both come back okay with no erros then you should be fine, also run DCDiag.exe and NetDiag.exe in a command prompt.
