i made a query with the fields i needed from two tables and made a form, all the fields work except the field that came from the second table, when i look at the properties, it looks the same as the properties of the other fields, but when i try to enter data, it just dings at me, so close to getting this the way i need it and am stuck, help!

harleynana,

Not all querys are editable. The compiler may not have enuf info to update both tables. That is why I like to
add data to table s with vb.

to steve and rolliee, i don't know how the tables are joined, there is a relationship between the two but that's all i know, i was following the access book, and to rollie i don't know any vb, i am just getting started with access, and my boss gave me this database to build and now i don't know what to do, i was hoping to get this done on my own, but access is giving me a headache.

harleynana,

Send me a zipped copy of your database and I will return it with the unbound form showing how to do what you wish.
