trouble seeing scsi drive

I ha e an adaptec 39160 scsi card anjd ibm 36z15 hard drive. I have a terminator on the cable and card is set to defaults. For whatever reason I cannot see the drive. The drive is an 80 pin drive and has an 80-68 pin converter. ANy suggestion?
