I am having trouble in configuring IBM tape library 3583(contains four IBM 3580 tape drives) using ARCserve r 11.1. I am trying the "Tape/Optical Library" Option available in the Device configuration wizard. If I proceed to the next step, I am able to see the four drives , but not able to assign them to the library. I tried installing/uninstalling/re-installing the IBM drivers for the Tape Library and the Tape Drives many times but no luck so for.

Arc serve r11.1 also provides an option "IBM 3494 Library" in the device configuration wizard. Does it mean that ARCserve supports only the 3494 library from IBM's stable and not any other (3583) model from IBM.

Please let me know if anyone had configured IBM 3583 library with ARCserve r 11.1

Advance thanks !

Installing/uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers ain't gonna do you any favours at all - disable them instead and try again (reboot if it prompts you).

The 3494 is for a specific library - if you ever saw a 3494 you'd know why.

CA maintains a Certified Device List and this library is on it.

Does the library show up in the Windows Device Manager under Media Changers?

It needs to show up there and should be disabled.
