trouble importing text into Quark Document

Hi,

We are having problems importing text from a Quark text document into a Xpress document.
We create the text box in the document then do the 'Get Text' command by using the Apple + E keys, and then select the file to import.
When it brings the text in, the text in the text box is garbage, unreadable text.
Here is a copy of the text that imported into a text box:

If you're going form one Quark doc to another, you can use Copy/Paste.

Yes, this is what you need to do. Copy/Paste. Quark "get text" is meant to be used for word processing documents.

Hi,

Sorry didn't geive enough information in original post:

The sub editor subs the mag page and then selects 'Save Text' and selects Xpress Tags in the save as window.
The Xpress Tags file is the text file that the designer is trying to get into the Quark document using the Get Text (APple+E). The designer and the sub both say this is the way that they have always done it and its always worked until the other day. Both are using Quark Xpress 4.1x on PowerMacs running OS 9.2.2

Are you sure they used the tags?

See what happens if they Save Text as ASCII. Your example indicates that the actual tags are showing as text in the new doc. ASCII always works for import.

If it worked before, and not now, somebody could have changed something or something could have gotten corrupted. did anybody crash Quark lately while working on it? That could cause a corruption. You can try going to the Quark folder on a machine, after quitting Quark, and try dragging Xpress Preferences out of the folder to another.

Relaunch Xpress and see what happens. If it works and you can do the Save As - Get thing, prefs will have to be reset by the users and they can trash the old prefs.
