Hi everyone,

I want to import some paradox format tables into a blank MS Access database. I had done this before with an earlier copy of the same paradox database, so I did not expect any problems. However, now I get the message 'External table is not in the expected format'. How can this be? Does this have to do with me having moved from Access 2000 to Access 2003? Or is the only explanation a change in the paradox database (which is still being updated)?

Thanks in advance for any tips/clues on where the problem may lie...

Cheers,

Fedor

I recently found the information on the Microsoft Web site after a fair bit of searching. Unfortunately I don't have the link but this is what they said to do.

Got to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared on My computer. Rename the Borland Shared folder to Borland Shared_X or something like that. Try to import the table again and then you can go back and change the Borland Shared name back to what it was.

It worked for me although I don't think of it as a good fix.

Hope this helps.

Well, there was in any case something wrong with the Borland database engine so I reinstalled it and now it seems to work! Thanks for diverting my attention to this point!

Cheers,
Fedor
