Hello. We've recently purchased an analog conference phone, and hooked it up to an ATA2. We can connect to all our extensions with it and that's fine, but we can't dial out. If I pick up and press 9 I get an error tone. I'm pretty sure I set the pool access to allow the ATA2, and I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on my problem. Thanks!

Make sure your lines are in the pool and you have the access code programmed. Try it from a digital set, select intercom and press 9 if it says no free lines, the lines are not in the pool. If it says denied then the code is not set, or you are not allowed pool access. Program accordingly.

Would adding lines to the line pool mess up the way the rest of the system works though?

I added the access code, and it gives the no line selected message, but I want to know if it is going to affect the way the system works with everyone else if I place lines in the pool. Thanks for the help.

Make sure the ATA has access to the line pool thats assigned to your lines (i.e. A). You can check this in Line Access/Line Pool Codes.

It has access, but I don't think there are lines assigned to the line pool itself. How do I add lines to the line pool, and will doing this affect the current users?

How do the rest of your phones go out? Do they use a route?

The rest of the phones in the building are digital phones with multiple buttons. (Line1, Line2, Intercom, etc.) We have 5 lines set up as public, so you just hit the button of the line you want to use, and dial out from there.

The new conference phone is an analog phone hooked up to an ATA2. This phone doesn't have the programmable buttons, and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get it to dial out. The external code is set as 9, but pressing 9 + xxx xxxx doesn't work.

I tried dialing out using 9 on one of the digital phones, and that doesn't work either. Will adding lines to a line pool affect the existing phones? I still want the lines to be public. Is there a different way to get this conference phone to dial out external?

Change all your lines to PoolA. Don't change any programming on the existing sets. On your conference telephone alow access to poolA.
As long as you don't remove any line from the existing digital telephones this will work.
From your conference telephone dial 9 and you will get outside dial tone, proceed to dial the telephone number.
If you want to check this, set up a digital telephone with the 5 lines on it and give it access to PoolA. Press the intercom and dial 9. You will see the last free line go busy.

It worked, thanks alot!

Quick question. Don't know if anyone knows off hand. We've got a callpilot 150 voicemail system going. Will changing these lines to poolA affect it?

The only thing that changes is any phone can dial 9 to access a line out.

Thanks alot for your help, everyone. I appreciate it.
