Hello everyone,

Need help on install/reconfigure of new module -IP400 Digital Station 16

I went through the process of powering down and rebooting numerous times with no luck. The phones (5410's) all say "please wait.." when plugged in.

I have another module installed (pre existing), not working but recognized by the manager, it shows the extensions in manager but when phones plugged in they say "please wait".

When I try to upgrade, the manager only lists the control unit, and 400 Digital Statiion both are version 2.

Anything anyone can think of would help !

What sort of phones?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

All Phones tried are 5410 Avaya's.

After some research, I think I found he problem...

Here are the versions of firmware:

IP 406 DS 3.2(59)
DIG DCPx16V2 5.2(59)
DIG DCPx16 5.2(59)

Dont know what the (59) is, but the 5.2 vs 3.2...
Where do I download the bin files ?

the 5.2 is correct
tech bulletin 91
addresses an issue with phones trying to upgrade but are not able to, that might be actually your problem, do the phones work on the other modules (after you tried it on this one?

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Nope that is not your issue.

The firmware on the expansion units is always 2 full releases higher

That is

System X.Y.Z
Expansion (X + 2).Y.Z

I suspect that your telephone handsets are on firmware version 2.0 and, for IP Office version 3.2.59, will need to be on version 5.0

May I suggest, with the greatest respect, that you either now go and read the relevant documentation or ask a local business partner with Certied techs to help you.

Ahhh you now see the modules
But did you set a tftp server ?
The phones need to upgrade !

-Phones work on other modules.

-The tftp server is running, I have the manager open and have also put the ip address in the batch, double clicked and it transfered. Then rebooted, phones on system then upgraded their firmware. I have done this with both "turn_on.bat" and "fw_on.bat"

-The phones say:
REL:5.0
FWV=5

And still "please wait" ?
Did you use the blue cables that comes with the modules ?

If your stil getting please wait and have updated then I would do a power cycle of all units.

Pull the power on each unit, count to 30, power the expansion units and wiat for the lights to go green, then power to 406.

See what happens then.

I have seen phones get stuck and need a power cycle to come alive. I've never had to use the .bat file to get phones up.

-Was using blue cables, but thought they were bad.
so changed for regular 2ft patch.

-Still getting please wait.

Always use the Avaya shielded 1m cables supplied. People have played with this before and found anything over 1.5m (ish) gives issues.

At worst, use shielded 1m leads if not the supplied ones.

Tried the power cycle??

I have tried the power cycle a few times.

Also switched back to the original 1m shielded cables.

One of the modules comes up, but not the other one.
