I have a Trojan / RootKit virus on a pc. Any suggestions for fixing this without reimaging, formatting, etc...

Trojan / RootKit on PC - Removal Suggestions

I would look at the FAQ in this forum for several helps including root kit finders, HiJackThis logs, etc., etc.. Then look at threads dealing with trojans and see if their answers help.

Try the following,
1. CCCleaner - to delete all temp files, fix registry, view startup file, etc.
2. Malware Bites
3. Trojan Remover (30 day full functioning trial)
4. Spybot 1.6
5. Trend HouseCall - online virus scan
Be sure to disable system restore. I have used this combination of utilites recently very successfully. The scans can take some time to run. You might want to start running them in safe mode then run again in normal mode.
