In Quark 4.1, I have placed a BW picture (tiif) and a square with 20% black.
Now I have placed a Pantone color 20% above them, and I was forgotten the bw picture and square was still there. You can't see it anymore in Quark. A composite PDF also didn't show it .
When you print separate colors, the bw picture and the bw square are still there !

The funniest is that, when I move the bw picture or the bw square so that a little corner is visible in Quark, now only this piece is visible on my black print with seperate colors printing. I don't understand it anymore. Help !
What can I do to prevent things like this.

I am using quark 5.1 and I was able to recreate the same results.

I guess I am a little confused as to why this is a problem. Why not just delete the stuff you forgot to delete in the first place? If you need part of them to show, it seems that Quark's trapping is working and knocking out the part under the tinted box and leaving the exposed black.

For some reason unless your objects overlap, Quark is not applying its trapping. (not sure why)

You could also select your tinted Pantone box and go under "view/show trap info" and set the box to knockout. That will get rid of the underlying black no matter what.
