Morning guys,

I'm trying to import a transparent background into a web page using Fireworks but I'm having some difficulty getting the transparency to work in DW MX. Basically I have a layer with a background image. Placed over that layer is another layer with some text in it. I was looking to give this layer a coloured background with a hint of transparency to make the text easier to read. Hope that makes sense....any ideas??

I'd be really grateful for your input people!:)

I don't think you can do this....

In webpages, you can't do transparency in amounts. Its either transaparent, or it isn't.

If you try and export a picutre from fireworks that is say,80% tranparent. Even as a transparent gif, it will simply come out lighter.

Try and get the same effect, another way.

Hi, Doctor Fox. I had the same problem. My workaround was to set up the area just as I like in Fireworks with the transparency, then slice that area and export in good format (gif, jpeg, whatever). To be clearer - the transparency option when just exporting didn't carry over - so I basically drew my page in FW, then sliced and diced.

Does that help?

That was my fear nippi....oh well. Back to the drawing board as they say.

Thanks Max, I recall I've done something similar before in Photoshop in the past. A bit disappointed that by now this would be possible in DW.

Thanks for your quick responses guys.

DW is NOT an image editor....transparency can be easily adjusted in Photoshop before slicing & exporting. If u need help just yell! :)
ALl the best!

well actulaly there is a transparency filter in css for IE only right now but there is javascript out there to make it cross browser compatible... i think might have the code or maybe
