Curious how most transfer files to a new computer? Finally upgraded main box and need to move all the stuff from old to new, on the same network.

What would be the safest way to move everything to ensure nothing gets corrupted during the transfer? Probably around 50 gigs of random stuff over the years. Was just going to ship it all over the network but was concerned some random files might get messed up. I'm sure it would end up being something I wouldn't realize until its too late..

Thanks

If you mean programs, most likely you'll have to reinstall them because of the various files that some contain. If you mean data files or non-executables, you can put them on a CD or use a USB memory stick if you want to avoid transferring over the network.

If its all just data and what not, its easiest just to take the drive out of the old system and make it a slave in the new system and label the drive old drive or what ever you like. Then you can take what ever data you like when you need it.
