I have some files in Clarisworks on my Performa which I would like to move to the iMac. I do not currently have Clarisworks on the iMac (I have Appleworks). What's the best way to transfer the files? Are they compatible with the two programs? Should I transfer Clarisworks to the iMac? Do I need a new version of Clarisworks for the iMAC? <br>

Any help would be appreciated.<br>

AppleWorks is still basically ClarisWorks, just a newer version renamed. If you copy all of your ClarisWorks files to your iMac AppleWorks will translate them and give you the option to save them with a v5.0 extension. (Hopefully you are on a network or have an external disk drive since the iMacs don't have floppy disk Drives) Works great!

If you have a cross cable, or make one yourself from an ethernet cable you can copy those files from machine to machine using the <file Sharing> Control Panel.

The documents themselves will be read by AppleWorks with no issue and you can simply open them and resave them in the AppleWorks 6 format. The iMac will prompt you for this on Save as the poster above has mentioned.
