I have a G3SI with Intuity vocie mail. I have a user (user1) that has another user (user2) as a bridged extension. Is it possible to have user1 answer a call for user2, then transfer the call to user2? If so, how does this get setup?

You cannot transfer a call the way you would normally transfer if the eprson is answering a call on a bridged appearance.

Normally you would press transfer, dial an extension, and press transfer a second time. But since you would be attempting to transfer by calling an extension from itself (a no-no in the systems operation) it would fail.

Try calling your own extension from your own phone. It always goes to coverage, (or fails if you have no coverage path) no matter how many open line apperances you have.

My suggestion would be to use coverage, and the consult button. Set user1 as a first point of coverage for user2. Put a consult button on the phone of user1. User1 can press transfer, then the consult button, converse privately with the user2, and if user2 wants to take the call, press transfer a second time.

Consult calls do not ring bridged appearances of the principal (user2) phone.

Thanks for the reply. I believe the coverage path is the way I am going to persue. I am pretty unfamiliar with this. Would you be able to provide me with more information on setting these up? Or point me in the right directions where I could get some instructions? Thanks...

Just enter this command:

add coverage path next

When the coverage path screen comes up, go to the bottom of the screen and add the receptionist's station number as point 1 and attd as point 2. If you have voicemail, put the voicemail hunt group as point 3.

Note the number of the coverage path. You'll add that to the stations that usually forward calls to the receptionist.

Add a send-calls button to each station.

For the receptionist, make a path that has attd as the point 1. Add a send-calls button to her station too.

When everyone leaves the office they should press the send all calls button on their station.

This will force calls to the other stations directly to the receptionist. When the receptionist presses send all calls, she will temporarily take herself out of their coverage paths, and will force calls to the other stations directly to the attendant console.
