Transfering a caller to anothers VM box Aria 250?

Well Octel interfaces to various phone systems and the changes the steps around sometimes but, most the time this is how it would go.
The user who needs to transfer the call would dial the voicemail pilot number. When voicemail answers they would hear their recorded name and "please enter your password". If they hit "*" and "*" again should be able to insert the mailbox number and complete the transfer. The caller should get connected just in time to hear the mailbox users greeting.
However the person transfering the call does not have a voice mailbox they would dial the voicemail pilot number and simply insert the mailbox number and complete the transfer. The "**" is not required if there is no mailbox assigned to the phone.
If you try this and the "**" takes you back to some kind of menu service then your Octel more than likely has port monitoring turned on and there could be another step or two involved due to the custom menu but try the above steps I bet the will work

Thanks M1PBXTECH. I tried the above, and here is what happens. When I dial 6422(vm pilot) direct I get my name enter * * it works perfectly.....BUT when I have someone on hold waiting to be forwarded, & dial 6422 it rings to the main greeting. I can hit * several time and it just stays on that greeting. If I hit # I get the Mailbox # please message and I tried to hit * then and it says goodbye.....
you can add a type 33 mailbox a dial mailbox mailbox lets say it is 3000 then in your PBX (not sure what you have) add a sta or hunt group by that number and cover or forward it all calls to the 6422 number.
to send someone to VM you transfer the call to 3000 and the type 33 mailbox will answer and you dial the MB number of the person you want and then complete the transfer.

since you have been so helpful....this is exaclty what I have set up. I have mailbox 7999 type 33 Ext 7999 forwarded to 6422(vm pilot) When I dial 7999 I get the Message "enter the vm box of the person you wish to reach"and it works great!...BUT when I have someone holding on the line, and dial 7999 I hear our main greeting. If I press * or ** nothing happens. If I press # I get enter mailbox # then Enter Password....This is really frustrating!

osmo, You said you "upgraded from an Octel 200 to a 250.
That's not an upgrade, that's a downgrade, Big time ;-)
The O200 is by far a superior product with more features and flexibility. Especially the robust debug logs!

Osmo, I agree in what speechguy writes.
In our part of the world customers will never change their Octel/VMX 200 or 300, for any reason.
So they keep rolling the stable and solid (as a rock) mashines.
We have sold them since 1992, and out of approx. 160 customers, I only upgraded one fro REL 7.1.5 to S.2.0.2-2, because the customer wanted networking throgh LAN/WAN.
