I searched on this but could not find an answer. I had to put a new(ish) MICS r6.1 in place of a 4.0 this morning the NAM is a 4.0 or 4.1. Everything works, but when I transfer callers to an extension the AA picks up instead of the persons mailbox.

Transfer Return is set to 12
Users are set to CFNA to 274 (VM Ext)
If I dial direct to an ext it works

Thanks very much in advance and I am sorry for being so rusty on these MICSs, it has been a while.

it will work if you can access the nam through the modem
or network
direct ring transfer has to be set to NO. Right now it is srt to YES that is was it is going back to the auto attn.
There is a patch you can insert into the flopy drive that will set it to NO. good luck finding one.
use a laptop if it has a network card drfault ip is 192.168.10.10
you will also need NRU norstar remote utilities

I meant REDIRECT RING is the setting not DIRECT RING TRANSFER

Norstar voice mail manager comes with NRU
but if you have the CD for the NAM voice mail manager will be on there

So I can connect to the NAM through the NIC and set myself to 192.168.10.11 and as long as I have the NRU software I can change the setting without upgrading? Thank you very much for taking the time to respond.

yes install norstarvoice mail manager you sill need that to connect
and the setting will be under preferances

You will need the pass word also it is different than the f983

user name is NAMACCESS
password is will be in the docs if you have them

4.0 is compatible you just have to set (REDIRECT RING) to no

Guys, seriously thank you so much for the help. Nortel was my bag in the 90s, but the company went 90% Avaya and 10% Nortel in 1999. If anyone ever has questions regarding Avaya come see me on the other forums. With the merger hopefully I can assist you to pay you back.

Where exactly is the NAMACCESS password in the docs?

Kevin Flounders

Thanks again NETWT, this all worked great, the only thing is that the ip address is 192.168.110.10 not 10.10 and the password is the F983 password. I logged in and turned Redirect DN to no.

Thanks to you and the board. Star a commin'

I would upgrade the NAM if your a vendor, may hit you in the back later when somebody found out you installed an incompatible device.

As for Access pswrd look in the NAM Installation and Maintenance Manual.

Client is fully aware of the situation, we are moving them to IP Office within a couple months, they just wanted to get operational as quick as possible.
