Is there a way using SQL Server 7 to transfer the transaction log to another server? I've tried to write it into the statment with the address (also set it up in network neighborhood on server) but it doesn't accept it. Is there a way around this?

Thanks a bunch. :)

Laura.

What are you trying to accomplish w/ this manuever?

Thanks

The transaction log for one of the databases is quite large even after truncating. I'm just trying to write into a statement that it gets moved to another server. Unfortunately it appears that SQL 7 does not allow access to outside sources only to it's own drives.

backup, it shouldn't be moved elsewhere--the db performance depends on how fast it can write to the log file.

Once the db is backed up the log gets truncated. Then you can just write a command prompt script that copies the backup file to its target location(other server) then deletes it from source.
