We currently have a Norstar 0x32 with voicemail and need some ideas on how to transfer incoming calls from auto attendant to dispatch service. We currently have a manual switch that moves 2 of our incoming line to E&M ckts that go to our offsite night dispatch center. With this method the lines go directly to the dispatch center without any afterhours message and as a result the dispatch center answer alot of unnecessary calls. We would like to be able to answer the calls with a short afterhours message then transfer the call thru to the dispatch center if the caller stays on the line. We are fairly new users of the Norstar phone system and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Think about using the external xfer feature in the CCR of the Voice Mail (if the VM is Northern). That way you present callers with timed announce, messaging options and blind external xfer to your dispatch. You may even be able to save line charges by ridding yourself of the E&M circuits. (Depending on your locations, distances, etc) You can assign up to 8 external xfer options in a single CCR tree or combos of msging/xfer options.

Good Luck
