trans replication and log files

Hello all :) I have a question about the log files during transactional replication. After the initial snaphsot is created, I know the Logreader Agent reads the log files to retrieve the transactions. When are those transactions cleared from the logs? Are they cleared AFTER another snapshot and/or AFTER I truncate the log? I'm just concerned about the log file size!
