Can a caller be automatically transferred to an external # when routed to a mailbox or ext? This needs to happen no matter how it's transferred..either by A.A. or an operator.
...thanks,deni
p.s. ...customer has 30 mailboxes

sure ext call forward set...if its a copper system may experience a volume drop...could have a menu option off of AA do it...there are various ways depending on what software platform currently on

okay, maybe i'm missing some info. but isn't call forward only directed to another dn, not an external # ? ..also i'm working with fiber....and a ccr tree doesn't seem like the best way,(if that's what you mean)with 30 mb's.

copper as in trunks"incomming/outgoing" and you can external call forward on rings or and on busy depending on software "4.1 i think

Within your mbox you can set external transfer. Under your mbox admin, press 8, press admin and set up your phone number, you will have to change your mbox greeting to tell the caller to dial 7 to get you on the cell. You need the mbox to have outdial.

thanks phoneguy, at least your on the right track. i do know about the outbound transfer, but i should have been more specific with my question. my customer wants to have the call automatically forwarded without having the caller have to press any buttons..doesn't seem like a big deal to me but he's asking so ..thought i'd check to see if i'm missing some programming info. ..thanks again

Depending on the system software you can use the sets call forward to go outside the building. You set up routing and allow that ext to redirect. What system and software do you have?

You can use External call forwarding or you can program under CFNA for the caller to be transfered to an external number if you are using routing. You do need to be aware of the toll fraud risks for using Outbound Transfer on the voicemail.

the customer's not working with isdn. i can't find anything in my doc's about "external call forward" except with isdn. can anyone give me "specifics" of how to set this up. i've talked with a tech that's been working on norstar for 10 years and he can't figure it out. once again..the caller needs to be transferred to a cellphone immediately after reaching an extension ,( without pushing any buttons). i've eliminated the mailbox , since it's not being used... thanks in advance

The specifics should be in the manual under call forward procedures. Make sure all lines in the system are supervised, it's best to use a dial 9 pool, and redirect must be allowed under capabilities to the extension in question.

There's nothing in the manual about "call forwarding" to an external #. Also, as I stated, the customer wants the transfer to go through automatically without the caller having to push any buttons. This leaves out outbound transfer. I did try to work with the obvious transfer options before I posted but nothing worked. Maybe it can't be done. Thanks anyway to all.. Deni

If you have the AA answer the incoming line, then go to CCR you can route a caller to a mbx, trns, info, etc. Such as, for Bob press 1, then have node 1 a trans to an external number.
I don't know if this is what you are looking for, hope it helps...

Thanks silver, I actually suggested this route to him before I found out he has 30 employees that work out of the office. This means using sub-menu after sub-menu just to route the caller thru to the right ext. but I appreciate the help.
