Hi,

Does anyone knows the there's any kind of software that can track the workstations in the domain and look what kind of soft- and hardware is installed?

try this its free
and the best known to me
it doesnt exactly give u the soft and hardware on the
workstation but is a helpful tool try it

We use Blue Ocean Software's Track-it. It includes an audit that can audit hardware and software on each PC. It also includes problem tracking. Their website is You can even get a demo version to see how it works.

I use (sort of) Microsoft SMS. The reason I say sort of is that SMS isnt quite all there yet... It does do hardware inventories very well. Software inventories are useable, but are some times a little messy (but this may be my setup). It also has a host of other applications that go along with it, but some work better than others.
