Without going into the security groups issue, my users need a way to see who and when individuals access the Access 97 database.

The database is a single table with a field for 'User ID' already defined. What is happening is that the most current user's ID overwrites the previously recorded one, losing the history. Not acceptable to management!

It would seem to me that I should be able to have a second table with date, time, user ID and record identifier of the record accessed ... but I'm clueless as to how to do this.

Ideas and suggestions GRATEFULLY accepted!

Thanks!

Tom

First of all, you need to activate the security feature, in order to make the users identify to Access. Then you need to create a log table, where you need to make room for the information you want to record. When a user logs on, his username is accessible via the method CurrentUser(). This returns a string with the username. You can then assign code to the appropiate event of the forms to add records to the log database.
If you would like more detailed information, feel free to mail me : hhmoeller@image.dk
