Tracking Issue

Greetings all!

Here is the problem, I have a web site to design for a friend and it envolves three things a table to store the item, a table for the customer and a table for the purchase. 2 things I have yet to figure out. Relating the table to track all three so all the table identify the whole order for that customer. I need to have a tracking number supplied but not sure if or how to apply it through the records set or do I need to do it through the DB relationships or worse both? KISS - I need help!

When a customer places an order have a field in the order table that stores the unique ref for the customer and the item. You can ref the other tables to get the full details.

The problem with this will be there is no customer until item is previewed and accepted. Therefore we have a product a preview and the purchase in which the customer data is supplied. So I found a reference to 2 tables in an example that performs this type of function. However is there a suggestion in the house that would simplify holding 4 text string and the url of a picture and allow the picture to be uploaded to the server or am I at least in the right direction????

Hit post button to soon. All I want to accomplish is to have the auto number of the item applied so that there will be a handle to associate the item, the customer, and the payment record in one traking number so that it can be downloaded or rather queried to one record.

You can insert the autonumber into the customer record, if thats what you are trying to do?
Sorry but I dont understand the problem very well. Can you maybe explain the whole process and what you are trying to do so that I can try to help.

I make items for example keychains. Simple "KISS" is what I am trying to achieve. The visitor see samples online say I wan't to create one, simple task -drops to a form which asks for 4 lines of text and uploads a picture. they hit post button or cancel button. They cancel the go to Index page they don't it goes to the next form page and asks for last first name, address, city, state normal stuff. they hit post button or cancel same as above next for billing and shipping info for the item. hit send and billing get sent and all else has been stored. Now admin gets the three tables in one shot and will transfer image to download. KISS I think. keys in your court now.

autoID & update related fields
u could use DB to so or 1 (mail table "items&quot to autogenrate ID...then use that ID and manually inser it into other related tables.
Last queery would then querry joined tables by that unique ID.
