Tracing errors through QA

Hello

I'm running SQL7 and have started getting the following (severity 25) errors:

DATE/TIME: 4/4/05 11:04:43 AM

DESCRIPTION: 17550
DBCC TRACEON 208, server process ID (SPID) 30.

COMMENT: Fatal error

JOB RUN: (None)

These errors are emailed to me and when I check the logs for SQL through Enterprise Manager it gives me no further information.

I would like to check the error list through Query Analyzer but do not know how to, in the hope that I can get more info to track down the problem.
What do I have to type in the get to the error logs?

Cheers

Thanks for that James!

Do you get the severity 25 errors also, or just the DBCC Traceon messages in the logs?

Where is it saying "severity 25"? Severity 25 is the highest error level you can get in SQL Server and represents possible major hardware failure! I don't think setting quoted identifiers on quite belongs in that category... ;-)

You say you're getting emails - where are these generated from? I only get the entries in the SQL Server log.

I originally set up alerts for our DBs years ago.
I did this through Enterprise Manager/Management/SQL Server Agent/Alerts and set up 'sql server event alerts'. Under the alert definition section I just selected sevrity 25 from the drop down list (I didn't select any error number), and any alerts get emailed to me via sqlmail.

It's run fine for a few years, and only now have I been getting errors.

I'm beginning to question now whether I set things up correctly back in the day.......

Cheers
