Totaling a numberIFF function???

I am tring customize a VMFG report, using Quest editor. I have added a
column to my report with a numberIFF function. I now need to total this
column. I have tried to use an Input total and just a SUM command. But I
never get to correct total. Has anyone had this problem? I would
appriciate any input.

I am using some GUPTA software called Quest but it works very similar. I am using the numberIFF function to count certain lines in my report I then need to total that numberIFF columns. I have used an input total and just tried the SUM function but each time I get a totally wrong number.
