Hey there all...having a joy of a night with total outage...no sets working at all. I have CO lines and Audix VM but thats it. Long story short my BP was here getting me from G3csiV9 to G3csiV12. Something has gone wrong and Avaya is on the system trying to fix right now but I was looking for anyone with info on how to get V9 software so I can make a install card and set the system back to V9...

I can't get my BP on the phone as of yet and Avaya is saying I have to get it from them...its 2 AM and I have 4 hours until my doors open for business...

Any help would be great...

Problem I'm having is there are no Digital or Analog cards working on the switch...I pulled one to reset and re-installed it and the system says its not there...supposed to be but not...all others are throwing major alarms...can't get to the alarms right now to post cause Avaya is in my system...

Thanks
John

Update,

Avaya has no clue as to what is wrong, they think could be that the Digal Cards won't work with the new V12...whatever...waiting on BP to come in and swap out the V12 hardware to the V9 and should go back to the way it was before the whole deal...

Anyone gots any ideas???

Disaster Planning is a must!!!

Check the Location field in sys-par customer-options. I know that if you have a bad location number the system does not recognize some boards.
In my country the location number is 2, but sometimes it is bad configured as 1 and does not understand some boards.

Good luck.

It doesnt sound like your BP did a very good job of planning this upgrade. Their should be a cut sheet that explains what the minimum vintages should be on ALL your hardware for your upgrade to take effect. I dont think the packs are the issue unless they are very old. I know the new CM software will support 4 wire station packs (TN 754b) packs is the reasoning behind that statement. The first part of the upgrade should have began with a complete backup of your systems configuration to your flash cards. I am not 100% sure on your G3SCI but on the larger systems your can reinsert those translations and restore that level of software form the originals.

Their will almost always be some sort of little problems with an upgrade but this doesn't sound like they did a very good job for you.

Update...

BP back in the office this AM and had the tech speak with another Avaya tech who knew what to check and it turns out the packs will not work with V12...so we had to put the V9 flash card back in and reboot...the system was crashing when it was doing a license check...

Anyways, Mikey you are correct, the BP failed to notice that the packs wouldn't work with the V12...so now I have to go back to V9 which will reach end of life or spend the money to update the packs to work with V12...

Off to get some sleep!

One thing that may make this go a little easier for you next time jbrusie. I ALWAYS ask for a copy so I can verfy all the vintages will work before the upgrade. They really dont want me to have it, but I insist. My last upgrade would have been this same type of disaster had I not found packs that had been missed.

Hope all goes well for you the next time around.

If the old boards were B offer boards, eg. tn2214b, tn2793 etc. You need to set the system for location 2 in the customer options form. This has to be done thru the license file.

Mikey is right. You BP should have seen this when they quoted the job to you. I could see them missing 1 board, but all of your digital and analog cards, that is not accecptable.

Man I feel you pain. I think we all have experienced a upgrade gone bad at one time or another. From past experience I always do upgrades on Friday night. Since my company is Monday though Friday, I have the weekend to fix any issues.
