Hi

I have Toshiba Laptop sattilite pro 4300. It was working fine for a year, the cover ran out 2 days ago. The was being used no problems and then decided to go into hibernation mode. Now I can't get it out of it. I have removed the battery, pressed the restart button and tried all sorts of things.

Get this, if I turn it off and then on I get moon and sun symbols and a bar that goes from the moon to the sun. Presumably the laptop is supposed to wake up when it gets to the sun but does it stays where it is.

Can anybody out there give me a clue as to what to do?

Yours clueless,

Paul

how many drive u have, if that is more than one, then u go to dos mode by pressing f8,then u take all the backup of ur necessary documents to the second drive(d:),and format the first one and again install the necessary software.u first do the simple things like try to go to safe mode or step by step configuration by pressing f8,then do format otherwise u need to do partition ,then format and install new software.

Hi Visitor,

I have already tried all that, the laptop seems to be dead in the water and I can't get it to boot to anything. It's a total nightmare.

Duran,

If your warranty truly ran out just two days ago, contact a Toshiba Service Partner.... they may be feeling nice and cover the repair for you. Don't call a CompUSA or anyplace like that that says they are "authorized" to fix Toshiba's. Call an Actual Premiere Service Partner in your area... you can get these from the Toshiba Website (just do a search based on your location).

I worked for a priemere repair shop for 5 years... If you were nice and pleaded enough... I would have covered it for you.... Give it a shot.

If it really won't wake up, sounds like it might be Motherboard related. If you press the Reset button while it appears to be hung, that should reset the system and force it to reboot... If that doesn't work I'd lean towards a hardware problem.
