TOOLS Menu in Meridian Mail

I may be missing something here but..

in pre "system id" days, to enter the tools menu you would just enter "tools" as your password.

Now with the system id entry in place, how do you get to the tools menu?

Have you tried entering "tools" in the ID and then your regular password. It's been a while since I've work on Mer Mail, but that sounds correct.

no, that's all you need, tools and the password. you may need a crtl r to repaint the screen

With the system id entry, the installer must change the TOOLS password upon installation. If the login/password combination for the TOOLS login do not have the same password, try checking with the installer. If that does not work, you can change passwords with the install tape.......

PS I ran into this problem on a brand new opt 61 that was Nortel prestaged. The Nortel programmer claimed that she never changed the TOOLS passworg (not). I had an ATAC person reset the tools password without an install tape but he did not tell me the magic method.
