I have allready tried that, it only affects ie not the folders.

Cheers.

Have you tried doing this in Windows explorer-not internet explorer?
Right click on start-explore. In the window that comes up go to view-toolbars.

Yes, i have unticked it but it still hasn't affected the folders will i need to reboot?

When its unticked can you tick the addressbar and whatever you need to see.
This is literally just a matter of playing round with the settings in that menu bar until it works. Theres nothing else I can tell you.....

Have now cured the fault after a bit of searching on the web
i had to delete

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\Explorer Itbarlayout key
from the registry

Thats weird, but thanks for getting back with the resolution.
