how can I remove some of the icons in the right side on the toolbar, I know their are there in the standby mode, but a couple of them I would like to remove.

You can hide them .
Right click on taskbar.
Choose properties.
Choose hide inactive icons.
Choose customize .
Now you can choose "Hide when inactive" "always hide" or "always show" for each item you like .

Most are put there by programs you have installed. Try the properties (Right-click on the Icon) of each program for an option to remove them.

Have a look in Msconfig (Start/ Run box) see what unnecessary programs you have loading.
