All this from the bad advice of a friend of mine regarding this thread:
thread602-373653 so it was a bad power supply, which my local computer store replaced free of charge. The new power supply is in and working.

However, before I figured that out, I took out the BIOS battery and left it out for several minutes before replacing it. Now with the new power supply the PC begins to boot, finds its devices, and sits there. I can't seem to get into the setup with DEL or any other key combination.

I have this hardware:
AMD Athlon 700 overclocked to 950mhz <--
K7S5A motherboard
Voodoo 3 3000 videocard (my wife's PC)
SCSI Yamaha CDRW
CD-ROM drive
SB16 plug and play

Jock (a different friend) and I connected some pins on the CPU to overclock it; it's burned in place persay. I forgot, but we adjusted the BIOS settings as well.

The K7S5A is running AMIBIOS 01/12/2002 S.
I see the options: "DEL -> Setup; F8 -> Menu; F12 -> Boot" or something like that, and pressing Delete makes it change to "Go -> Setup; F8 -> Menu; F12 -> Boot" (and likewise with the others).

However, once it's done finding her hard-drives and peripherals, she hangs. She just sits there.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Will it boot with a startup disk? Give that a try. Let us know if it will. We are always looking for new members at our computer forums: Please come join our community too.

250mhz ? over the 700 default does seem a little excessively overclocked.
I have used this motherboard before but cannot remember if there are any jumpers onboard??
If there are jumpers set them back to default so the motherboard completely soft configures.
Reset the cmos again, have another go.
Yes press the delete button and hold it down.
Good luck. Martin Please let members know if there advice has helped any.

Yes, follow paparazi's advice, but if you still cannot get into bios, try the basic approach by disconnecting all non-crucial devices and seeing if that boots. Then work your way up from their. ~Apex1x

It works better if you plug it in.
