It's got to the point in my Access 2000 database where I have over 430,000 records now in one table. I really want to change one of the fields from text to number but after a while it says that it doesn't have enough disk space or memory. I was wondering if there is a way around this. e.g. maybe there's a way of creating a new table with same fields with the new desired data types and import or copy all the records from the old table. Is that possible??

It's a long shot. :)

You hit the nail on the head with the new table idea.

Create the new table with the new column formats. Then create a new append query mapping the old table to the new table. Access will automaticall try and convert from text to numbers where relevant.

Great. Thanks, you're a star. I'm learning more as I go. It's great. :)
I've never used an append query b4 but it can't be hard. I'll let you know how it goes.
