Too many Inbox appearances

(R5) How come I keep seeing a NEW Inbox appear in the LNotes bar? You know the bar that is somewhat at the top of the LNotes windows. I have noticed that it seems to only get a new instance when I get a new email. Please help. I can still work, it's just frustrating.
